Warning: The Utah Legislature is now in session!

Utah lawmakers are busy on Capitol Hill this month deciding how to spend your tax dollars. They are also contemplating new laws that would mandate teaching "intelligent design" in science classes and that would ban smoking in bars and taverns. Another particularly controversial bill would seriously curtail cities' and counties ability to control land development.
Our advice: don't blink until the session is over! If you are riled up about a particular piece of legislation post your comments here. We'll be sure to pin Summit County's legislators down on the issues that matter to you.

The absolutely worst set of legislation working its way through the system is the changes to GRAMA. The County's own Dave Thomas is attempting to put substantial limitations on the ability of the public to access public information. To make matters worse, he is attempting to cloak the tightening of restrictions as an opening of the records to the public. The public and press of Summit County and Park City should be livid (as are the Salt Lake City based press and public).

Is the House still discussing a dress code (khakis and skirts) for reporters and photographers on the floor? Scott Sine better watch out! Keep up the good work big boy.
