Global repercussions
After ignoring the evidence for years, we seem to be finally moving toward a consensus: Yes, human behavior does have an impact on things like the acidity of our oceans, the temperature of the air and the abundance or scarcity of other species. So what do we do now? Do we wait for government to take the lead or do we take the initiative as individuals? What are you doing personally to reduce your environmental footprint? One of the things I love most about Park City is that everything is either within walking distance or a free bus ride away. I put gas in my car last Wednesday and it was the first time in over three months. This is the 3rd winter where I've spent 6 months straight in Park City and used 3 tanks of gas in those 6 months. Not only do I save a lot of money but it also means I don't contribute to traffic problems and dramatically reduce my carbon footprint! Green Bob
I have been only using 1 square of toilet paper, both sides per time. If I eat more cheese I have no wipers. I have reduced my carbon butt print so I can drive more.
Man-made C02 makes up LESS than 5% of all the C02 in the atmosphere. Additionally, the polar ice caps on Mars are consistently melting year after year, and the ice moons orbiting Jupiter & Saturn have turned into liquid magma. Is this truly the result of our SUV's? Or could it be that the THOUSANDS of scientists, who are being ignored, are right about the real culprit, the sun. Do some research if you don't believe me and stop sounding like a serf, ready to embrace feutilism!
We just enjoyed the best snow in 10 years and it's still snowing! What up with that Al?
CO2 accounts for around 0.03% of the atmosphere. It has a huge effect on our planet. 5% of that is a staggering amount. SUV's are minimal contributors compared to coal fired powerplants. Ice moons are believed to melt because of gravitational tidal forces creating friction within the satellite. the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the Nobel: this reflects the scientific community at large. If we glean our understanding of science from the O'Reilly Factor, Glenn Beck (and the like) we are in real trouble. Not to start feudin' with you, but maybe trying to explain "feutilism" is an exercise in futility. Or should I say "Serf's up dude!"
If we are waiting for our state legislature to do anything about Climate Change, we are wasting our time. One of our representative just introduced a resolution asking that the Governor withdraw from the Western Climate Alliance, because he doesn't believe that humans have anything to do with climate change. I'm not even sure he believes in climate change at all.
I'm doing my part ...I've stoped buying the Park Record.
Foreign oil dependency? Top 10 worst polluted cities in America. There are solutions that will take care of everyones needs. Type these keywords or phrases into your favorite seach engine: coal powerplants, American energy act,

With all due respect peter just because they got a nobel means about zero. Keep in mind that obama was nominated for a peace prize before he was even elected, and won it within months of being elected and before he had done anything but run for office. Not only that but the intergovernmental panel on climate change just 20 years ago was telling us all about the next ice age because of human impact. We also know that they falsified data for years to get the results they wanted so the cash would keep coming. If you want to destroy humanity and civilization in the world feel free to follow the piper.
Mr Lafave,
I am sorry to inform you that you are wholly ignorant about global warming and climate science. 20 years ago IPCC issued its first report on global warming, they did not "tell us all about the next ice age because of human impact." [Here is the link: http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/far/wg_I/ipcc_far_wg_I_full_report.pdf] I understand you are eager to be elected, and are prolific in your recent postings. Your naivete will play well to your Utah audience. You need not lecture me on science, and I won't try to educate you on Utah tea party politics. Scientists who agree with the consensus (AGW)outnumber contrarians by at least 3,000 to 1. The science is firmly established, but neocons as a group refuse to accept this, and they often look like fools as a result. If you want to argue science with me, I urge you to educate yourself beforehand.
Good luck on your election, and welcome to the wonderful world of Utah politics. I genuinely hope you can make Park City less corrupt.
As I said, neocons often look foolish when debating climate science. See this example of Scientific American's rebuke of George Will's piece in Newsweek. Sure I weighed in.
