Politically correct holiday greetings

Apparently, a spoil sport in Seattle was offended by the fact that there were Christmas trees but no menorah at the SeaTac airport. So, in order to ward of a possible lawsuit, the airport opted to remove the trees. Elsewhere in the country, too, sticklers for political correctness are demanding that Merry Christmas be replaced by the more ecumenical "Happy Holidays." We say light the trees, gulp the egg nog, spin a dreidel, and make merry without getting all bent out of shape about the dogma. It is cold out, the days are short and any excuse for warmth or twinkling lights is welcome. How about you? Are you offended when the checkout person at the grocery store offers a cheery "Merry Christmas?" Please post your comments below and have a 'jubilant whatever' this weekend!

As a Jewish person, what offends me is:

People that make an issue out of it.

People that think their rights are more important than everyone elses.

People that get offended by stupid stuff.

People that think the world "owes" them something just because of their sex, race, creed or religion.

People that are the first to bitch moan and groan about something yet are the last ones to do anything about it.

People that move close to an airport then bitch about the noise.

People that think they know how to run my life better than I do.

People who's been bitching for years for more stop lights on 224 now bitching about how long it takes to get to Kimbal Junction.

Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

That's what offends me. Wish me a Merry Christmas, I'll say it right back to you. It's the spirit and the intent. If you can't figure that one out, you're stupid. Stupid people offend me. Get a life and enjoy the season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Perhaps everyone has forgotten US history. Christmas is a federal holiday. Congress established this holiday in 1870 for the specific reason to celebrates the Nativity of Jesus, traditionally observed on 25 December. Secular aspects of this holiday include giving gifts and decorating a Christmas tree. There are no other religous holiday recognized by congress. Like it or not, this contry was founded on Judean/Christian principles. Muslims, Hindus, Hebrews, Buddahs, etc had nothing to do with the founding of this nation! MERRY CHRISTMAS, it's the United States' holiday!

Bozhye moya! Looks like someone has forgotten his own U.S. history. Before Christians "founded" this continent, I seem to remember learning something about people with their own traditions already inhabiting it. So we're celebrating a Christian takeover? It's a little less merry already. And I guess the Bhuddists who worked on the railroads in San Francisco didn't help build the nation. Nor did - I'm sorry - was Hebrews supposed to get around simply saying Jews? Is there something wrong with the identity? You're right, they did nothing for business or commerce. It was just the Christians, eh? Look, I'm actually not against Christmas as a national holiday. I even get your point. It's tradition - and uniformity is easier than giving everyone their own day off, and at the heart of it, there's comething in the peace and joy of the season for everyone to celebrate. That's what you're really trying to say, right? 'Cause no one else had a hand in building the nation? Come on!

As a U.S. citizen, what offends me is that simply because religion is being heard where and when it should not be in consideration we are having to change alot of our family traditions. If you do not like the way I look, then don't look. If you do not like the way we celebrate, simply ignore it. Do not have me tell my children why they cannot say the pledge of allegiance in their class, or why they have banned dress for Halloween, or even hand out Christmas gifts (because it offends other students in the class) and sing carols in their schools. Santa is a tradition along with trees and egg nog. Don't take this away, we say nothing about why you do not celebrate with us, we simply choose to respect your traditions. Be a human being and respect others!

A message to all those people who think they are forging a brave new "politically correct" world...

Haven't you missed a crucial point about what being "correct" towards other people actually is...or perhaps you think that people who disagree with you do so because of their obvious ignorance, or their lack of morals, or their lack of understanding, or perhaps they are simply too thick to understand what is blatantly obvious to you...

Well you can be the judge of that because you know best of course(!)
