What grade would you give 'Grade Realignment?'

This year, the Park City School District implemented a plan to shift some grades to different school buildings to help alleviate overcrowding at Park City High School. Ninth graders were moved out of the high school and into Treasure Mountain. The district’s two middle schools -- Treasure Mountain and Ecker -- that both used to house grades 6-8, now split that age group. ‘Junior high’ schoolers, grades 8 and 9, now go to Treasure Mountain and all of the district’s 6th and 7th graders go to Ecker Hill.

If your family was affected by this ‘realignment’ we’d like to know how it’s going. What grade would you give grade realignment? Please post your comments below.

(Let’s keep all of the comments above the belt please, any mean-spirited remarks will be deleted.)

There are pros and cons to the new grade relignment, the pros are kids get to meet each other much earlier and there is no tension between kids from Park City and kids from the jermy ranch area. A con of combineing the schools is that kids cannot "start over again" in high school regarding their social lives, beacuse kids who have no friends in middle school use the high school as a oppertunity for a new start.

Although my family is not effected by the realignment of the grades now, I don't see it as a problem. I went to school in Park City with all of the same kids from kindergarten to high school because there were no other schools. I think that having children in a smaller community together is a positive thing. It helps children work through their problems by learning important coping skills and teaches them to socialize for when they are introduced to the larger world. I don't see how the realignment could be bad if it helps alleviate over crowded classrooms and gives children the opportunity to learn and be heard.
I'm sure the children dislike the move though. I was thrilled when we moved from Parley's Park elementary school into TMMS in the 4th grade, it felt like we were moving up in the world. Now kids have to wait even more years until they can even get into high school. But...you can't have everything your way I suppose.
